Microsoft introduces Agent 365, its AI management and security tool
Microsoft announced Agent 365, a new tool to help companies keep their growing fleets of AI agents in check.
With businesses now spinning up about 82 machine identities for every human user, Microsoft is rolling out stronger security and easier management.
The new Microsoft 365 E7 bundle brings together Agent 365, Copilot, Entra Suite, Defender, Intune, Purview, and the IQ Platform, all for $99 per user per month, starting May 1, 2026.
Key features of Agent 365
Agent 365 comes with an Agent Registry so admins can track all those digital workers easily.
Each AI agent gets its own unique ID (with no more power than a regular employee), while Purview blocks leaks of personal information and keeps compliance on track.
Defender provides runtime threat protection (public preview begins in April 2026), with detection for Foundry and Copilot Studio agents and related security posture management continuing in public preview on May 1, 2026.
New E7 plan simplifies licensing for companies
The $99-per-user-per-month E7 plan bundles everything at one price, compared to the old E5 plan ($60 per user per month) plus Copilot ($30 per user per month) separately.
For companies scaling up their AI game, it's a move toward simple licensing and tighter control over digital agents, no more piecing together different plans just to stay secure.
