NASA launches Artemis 2 10-day Moon mission, 1st since 1972
Technology
NASA just launched Artemis two from Cape Canaveral on April 1, sending four astronauts, Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen, on a 10-day trip around the Moon. It's the first crewed lunar mission since 1972!
The launch lined up with Passover, so a mini Seder was held by a few Jewish members of the press at Kennedy Space Center.
Artemis tests Orion, advances Moon habitation
This mission is more than just a flyby: it's testing Orion's life support systems and kicking off NASA's plan for people to live and work on the Moon in 2032.
Unlike Apollo's quick visits, Artemis aims for a lasting presence.
As Asa Stahl put it, Artemis two is an important step in our journey to return humans to the Moon and build a sustainable presence there.
