Nokia X30 5G debuts with lackluster hardware and eye-watering price-tag
Nokia has launched a new smartphone, dubbed X30 5G, in India. The handset comes in a single 8GB/256GB variant and is priced at Rs. 49,000. It is currently available for pre-bookings and will go on sale from February 20. As for the highlights, the device features a 90Hz AMOLED display, a 50MP main camera, a Snapdragon 695 5G chipset, and a 4,200mAh battery.
Why does this story matter?
The Nokia brand, under HMD Global, has managed to do well in the budget and mid-range segments. However, it has failed to establish itself in the premium category. The latest X30 5G brings to the table mid-range hardware that one can easily get under Rs. 20,000. It feels like an over-priced smartphone given there are far superior alternatives available around the Rs. 50,000 mark.
The handset has a 90Hz AMOLED display
Nokia X30 5G sports a center-aligned punch-hole cutout, slim bezels, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and IP67 ingress protection. At the rear, it flaunts a dual camera module. The smartphone features a 6.43-inch Full-HD+(1080x2400 pixels) AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a 20:9 aspect ratio, up to 700-nits of peak brightness. Dimensions-wise, it measures 7.99mm thick and weighs around 185g.
The device boasts a 50MP main camera
Nokia X30 5G is equipped with a 50MP(f/1.9) primary snapper and a 13MP(f/2.4) ultra-wide lens along with an LED flash. Up front, it has a 16MP(f/2.4) shooter for selfies and video calls.
The smartphone runs on Android 12
Nokia X30 5G is fueled by a Snapdragon 695 5G chip, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The handset boots Android 12. Under the hood, the smartphone packs a 4,200mAh battery with 33W fast-charging support. On the connectivity front, the device offers 5G, GPS, NFC, Bluetooth 5.1, dual-band Wi-Fi, and a Type-C port.
