NVIDIA delays GeForce Now launch in India to 2026
What's the story
NVIDIA has announced a delay in the launch of its GeForce Now cloud gaming service in India. The company now expects to roll out the service in the first quarter of 2026, instead of November 2025 as previously planned. The delay is due to ongoing construction work on dedicated servers within India, which are crucial for achieving the desired performance levels.
Infrastructure development
Local server construction to enhance gaming experience
NVIDIA's decision to build servers locally is aimed at improving the gaming experience by reducing latency. The company said, "We now anticipate the service will go live during the first quarter of 2026." This strategy is particularly important for cloud gaming, where high latency can ruin fast-paced gameplay. By setting up servers in India, NVIDIA hopes to provide smoother and more responsive streaming for graphically intensive games.
Market competition
NVIDIA's GeForce Now to compete with Xbox Cloud Gaming
The launch of GeForce Now will also put NVIDIA in direct competition with Microsoft, which recently launched Xbox Cloud Gaming in India. However, unlike Microsoft's ₹1,639 monthly Game Pass Ultimate subscription that has been criticized for its pricing, GeForce Now offers a different model. It lets users stream games they already own from platforms like Steam and the Epic Games Store where regional pricing is more affordable.

GeForce Now's hardware and pricing details
When it launches, GeForce Now will be powered by RTX 5080-based hardware across three tiers. These include a free ad-supported tier, a Performance tier offering 1440p at 60 FPS sessions for up to six hours, and an Ultimate tier supporting 4K at up to 240 FPS sessions for as long as eight hours. While global prices are $9/month and $19/month for the paid plans, Indian pricing is yet to be announced.
