Earlier in the day, PM Modi attended the IBSA (India, Brazil, South Africa) Leaders's Meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. The Prime Minister reiterated India's commitment to strengthening trilateral cooperation in areas such as South-South cooperation, reforming global governance systems, and enhancing collaboration among developing countries.

Addressesing disaster preparedness at G20 Summit
On Saturday, PM Modi spoke at the second session of the G20 Leaders's Summit on disaster preparedness and response. He stressed that natural disasters are a major challenge to humanity. "These events clearly highlight the need to strengthen international cooperation for effective disaster preparedness and response," he said, adding that India had formed a Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group during its G20 Presidency.

PM Modi introduces G20 Critical Minerals Circularity Initiative
PM Modi also stressed on the importance of critical minerals for sustainable growth and clean energy. He announced the G20 Critical Minerals Circularity Initiative to promote recycling, urban mining, second-life batteries, joint research, and standardized technologies. The initiative is aimed at ensuring a sustainable supply chain for critical minerals needed in various industries including renewable energy technology.

In his address at the opening session of the G20 Summit, PM Modi called for a rethink of global development parameters. He proposed a G20 initiative to counter the drug-terror nexus and a global healthcare response team.
