Samsung phones can now reboot after 72 hours of inactivity
Technology
Samsung just rolled out a handy new feature called Inactivity Restart for some Galaxy phones.
If your device sits untouched for 72 hours, it will automatically reboot itself, helping keep your data safe if you ever lose your phone or it gets stolen.
How to enable inactivity restart
You can turn on Inactivity Restart in your security and privacy settings, but it has started appearing on some Galaxy phones — including select Galaxy S25 models and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 with the February 2026 update (no S26 support yet).
Once enabled, notifications, caller details, and alarms may remain hidden until you unlock with your PIN, password, or biometrics, pretty much locking things down like Google and Apple do during long breaks.
