SpaceX launches 25 Starlink satellites to low Earth orbit
SpaceX sent 25 Starlink satellites (Group 17-18) into orbit from California, the mission was SpaceX's 29th of the year and used a Falcon 9 rocket.
This launch adds to its nearly 10,000-strong satellite network, all aimed at making fast internet more accessible worldwide.
The new v2 Minis are 4 times more powerful
These v2 Minis are a big upgrade: they're four times more powerful than older models and packed with high-tech gear like advanced antennas and super-fast laser links.
They also use efficient argon thrusters, so they can do more while using less fuel.
Starlink is also working on direct-to-device connections
With these new satellites, Starlink is boosting internet speed and coverage everywhere, even in places that usually get left out.
Thanks to announced commercial agreements and direct-to-cell initiatives, these developments aim to enable switching between cellular service and satellite internet in the future, in many locations that currently have limited coverage.
