SpaceX launches 28 more Starlink satellites to expand internet coverage
Technology
SpaceX sent 28 new Starlink satellites into orbit from California, adding to its massive network that now totals about 8,800 satellites.
The goal? To make fast internet available almost anywhere on the planet—so whether you're in a city or somewhere remote, you could soon have better access.
Rocket booster was used for the 8th time
This launch used a Falcon 9 rocket booster that had already been to space seven times before—making this its eighth flight—and landed safely again on the "Of Course I Still Love You" drone ship.
SpaceX has made reusing rockets almost routine now, and this was their 142nd Falcon 9 launch this year alone.
By the end of 2025, a total of around 2,600 Starlink satellites will have been launched during the year to keep expanding global coverage.
