SpaceX worker seriously hurt in crane accident—OSHA steps in
Technology
At SpaceX's Starbase site in Texas, a subcontracted worker named Eduardo Cavazos was badly injured last month when a large metal support fell from a crane on him during construction.
He's now suing SpaceX and contractor CCC Group, saying they didn't secure the equipment or warn workers about risks.
Safety record under the spotlight
Cavazos suffered several fractures and other injuries, leading SpaceX to report the incident to OSHA, which has launched an investigation.
This isn't the first safety issue at Starbase—another crane collapse happened earlier this year.
With Starbase's injury rate more than double the industry average and past citations for underreporting injuries, concerns about worker safety at the facility are growing.
