Tesla's robotaxi crash investigation reveals critical info blackout
Tesla is catching heat for hiding key info about a Robotaxi crash in Austin back in September 2025.
Most of the details sent to US safety regulators were blacked out, with Tesla calling them "confidential business information."
This marks the fourth Robotaxi crash since June, and it happened when the car hit a fixed object in a parking lot.
Tesla's robotaxis only operate in Austin right now
Right now, Tesla's Robotaxis only operate in limited parts of Austin, always with human safety monitors and remote teleoperators watching.
Even so, Elon Musk says he wants to ditch these monitors by the end of this year.
He claims Tesla's Autopilot cars are much safer than average—but repeated crashes and more frequent incident reports than rivals like Waymo have regulators raising eyebrows about whether these cars are really ready to go solo.
Expansion plans outside Texas are also stuck due to regulatory hurdles.
