Sania-Barbora lose in doubles finals of 2016 Wuhan Open

The Indo-Czech pair of Sania Mirza and Barbora Strycova lost in the women's doubles final at the 2016 Wuhan Open in China. They were defeated in straight sets 1-6, 4-6 by Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Lucie Safarova in the summit clash. After ending her partnership with Martina Hingis earlier this year, Mirza has won three of the four doubles title.

    Wuhan Open

The Wuhan Open is a tennis tournament for professional female tennis players. The tournament was started in 2014 and is held in Wuhan, Hubei, China. The tournament is played on the hard surface and the total prize money for 2016 is $2,288,250. The United States' Venus Williams won the women's singles title in 2015, while Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis won the doubles title.

Kerber, Venus Williams out in the third round

World number-one Angelique Kerber was shown the exit door by Petra Kvitova in the third round of the 2016 Wuhan Open. Kerber lost 7-6, 5-7, 4-6. Defending champion Venus Williams was also knocked out of the tournament after she lost to Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-2, 6-2.

    Petra Kvitova lifts single's title

Czech Republic's Petra Kvitova dominated the singles final match to lift the Wuhan Open trophy. She defeated 10th seeded Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia 6-1, 6-1 in 63 minutes. Petra, who is ranked 16th in the world, will move up to 11th in the new rankings on Monday. She had defeated world number one Kerber and number five Simona Halep to reach finals.

Great to win the title second time: Kvitova

Kvitova said that it was great to win it for the second time and was happy with the tennis she played. Kvitova added, "I do like the conditions here. I feel that it's a little bit faster. I really can play my game here."
