Indian Wells: Federer in semis after another stellar show

Roger Federer equalled his best start to a season after decimating Chung Hyeon 7-5, 6-1 in straight sets at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. The world number 1 tennis player will hold his rankings after the tournament with this win over Chung. Federer will next face Croatia's Borna Coric, who defeated Kevin Anderson 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 in three sets.

2018 sees Federer in top form

The Swiss maestro is eyeing a record 6th Indian Wells title. He extended his winning streak to 16 successive games and has a 16-0 record this year. He clinched his 97th singles-title recently, after winning in Rotterdam. He won the 2018 Australian Open as well.

Venus Williams keeps up her stakes

Veteran women's singles player Venus Williams continued her march in the BNP Paribas Open. The American star defeated Spanish Carla Suarez Navarro in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 to reach the semi-final. Venus is scheduled to play her first semis at the Indian Wells in two decades against Daria Kasatkina. She is yet to lose a set in the tournament.

    Blockbuster women's semis on cards

Venus faces a tricky tie against Kasatkina, who shocked Germany's Angelique Kerber with a 6-0, 6-2 win. World number 1 Halep has been in commanding form with a 18-1 win record this year. She would face Naomi Osaka, who has stunned several top-notch players already.
