Rarely has the cricket world seen batsmen like Alex Hales, who, despite his tall frame, still bats with an unseen elegance. Hales wasn't just another elegant stroke player. He was one of the first experiments of England's changing approach to limited-overs cricket. Hales's first bout with fame came in 2005 when he scored 55 runs in a single over. In 2008, he was signed by Nottinghamshire and made both his List A and first-class debut in the same year. His impressive form in domestic T20 led to him being named in England's T20 squad to face India in 2011. Hales did not have the most memorable of a debut as he was out for a duck. In 2014, he became the No. 1 ranked T20I batsman in the world. In the T20I World Cup held that year, he scored a century against Sri Lanka and became the first Englishman to do that in T20Is. In 2014, Hales made the ODI team after 32 matches in T20 cricket. His career in the longest format of the game was short-lived, though, from 2015 to 2016. In 2019, he was banned for three weeks as he tested positive for a recreational drug and has not been called up for the team since.
