Ashes: Australia announce XI for 1st Test; Marnus Labuschagne recalled
What's the story
Australia have confirmed their Playing XI for the first Ashes Test against England, starting November 21 in Perth. The team sees two debutants in the form of opener Jake Weatherald and pacer Brendan Doggett, while Marnus Labuschagne has been recalled to the side. The side is similar to that predicted by Australian cricket legend Ricky Ponting on The ICC Review earlier this week.

Beau Webster dropped, Labuschagne recalled
All-rounder Beau Webster has been dropped from the XI despite some impressive recent performances. According to the ICC, this is the first time since 2019 that Australia have named two debutants in a single Test side and the first such instance in an Ashes Test since 2011. Labuschagne, who has been recalled to the side, will bat at No.3. Meanwhile, Cameron Green also makes it into the top six.
