#IndiaInAustralia: Records that could be broken in T20I series
With India dominating the T20I circuit like never before, one would expect the visitors to amass some new records in the three-match T20I series against Australia. India start their tour with the first match scheduled at the Brisbane Cricket Stadium, tomorrow. The next two T20Is would be played on November 23 and 25. Here are records that could be broken.
Rohit, Kohli could get past Guptill's T20Is record
Rohit Sharma is currently the leading T20I run-scorer for India (2,207) and is also the second highest run-getter in the world behind Martin Guptill (2,271). He needs just 64 runs to surpass the Kiwi batsman and by end of the series expect Rohit to be the leader. Kohli too is in fray for the record, as he has 2,102 runs in T20Is.
Rohit could be the king of sixes in T20Is
'Hitman' Rohit is known for clearing the fences at ease with effortless hitting. He has scored a total of 96 sixes in just 87 T20Is. The Indian opener is just eight short of toppling Martin Guptill and Chris Gayle's tally of 103 sixes each.
Rohit, Dhawan eye special record this year
Rohit could also end up being the leading run-scorer in T20Is in 2018. He needs 17 runs to surpass Zaman. Further, Shikhar Dhawan (572) is in contention for the same record. He is just 4 short of Pakistan's Zaman (576). Australia's Aaron Finch (476) could move past Zaman as well and challenge the Indian duo.
India aiming to be first team in scripting this record
India overcame Australia in the final T20I of the 2011-12 series. In 2015-16, India won the three-match series by a 3-0 margin. So if they win tomorrow, they could be the first side to beat Australia in 5 successive T20Is on their home soil.
Rohit, Bumrah eye special records
Rohit could become the second highest run-scorer in T20Is for India against Australia. He is joint-second with Yuvraj Singh (283). He could also challenge Kohli for the most 50+ scores in T20Is by an Indian against the Aussies. Sharma has three 50+ scores with Virat leading with 4. JB could end up being the highest Indian wicket-taker against Australia.
