Records Virat Kohli could script in IPL 2019
Virat Kohli may have not won a trophy with Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League, but he has been one of the leading performers with the bat. Kohli has been consistent over the years and his bat has done the talking. The celebrated player will be looking to define RCB's campaign in IPL 2019. Here are records which he could script.
Kohli was among the runs in IPL 11. The 30-year-old was the highest run-scorer for RCB (530) and finished seventh in the overall list. RCB finished sixth last season and Kohli would want to arrest the slide this time around.
Kohli has the second most number of runs in the IPL (4,948). He is only behind Chennai's Suresh Raina (4,985 runs). The manner in which Kohli has been batting in last 12 months, one would expect him to end the season as the highest run-scorer in IPL history. Along with Raina, Kohli is also set to surpass the 5,000-run mark in the T20 league.
Kohli has 34 IPL fifties to his name and is only behind Gautam Gambhir, David Warner (both 36) and Suresh Raina (35). He can script the most number of fifties in IPL 2019 and surpass the trio. Kohli is the joint-second highest centurion in the IPL (4). Chris Gayle leads the show (6 centuries). Kohli can become the highest century-scorer in IPL this term.
Kohli has captained 96 times in the IPL. He is set to join MS Dhoni and Gambhir to lead in more than 100 matches in the IPL. Kohli has also won 44 matches in the IPL as skipper. If RCB manage to win six matches in IPL 2019, then Kohli will reach 50 wins as skipper and become the fourth player to do so.
Kohli is fourth in the all-time list for most number of fours hit. He has amassed 434 fours. Kohli could surpass leader Gambhir (491). Shikhar Dhawan (460) and Raina (448) are also in the fray. Kohli needs 22 maximums to register 200 sixes in IPL.
