#CoronavirusOutbreak: Players should use break to introspect, says Pollard
The coronavirus pandemic has caused a worldwide catastrophe. This has resulted in all sport getting suspended or postponed. Meanwhile, West Indian cricketer Kieron Pollard has stated players should use this break to introspect about their careers and stay fit. This sounds as a wise message sent out by Pollard. Here's more on what the all-rounder claimed.
Pollard was ruled out of the PSL due to injury
Earlier this month, Pollard was ruled out of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) due to a niggle in his right thigh. He was replaced by Carlos Brathwaite at Peshawar Zalmi. Pollard was expected to join Peshawar after West Indies' tour of Sri Lanka but he missed the tournament. The PSL season got postponed due to COVID-19 with the semi-finals and final left.
Pollard highlights what's crucial in this period
"It is a good time for introspection, a good time for reflection, a good time to look at where you are as an individual in your career and what you want to achieve going forward," he was quoted as saying by Jamaica Gleaner.
Physical and mental shape crucial in this period: Pollard
"You have to take this time in order to keep yourself in good physical shape, and mentally as well, because when the bell rings and they say 'ok, everything is back to normal and we need to go on tour', it might not be enough time to be prepared, but you as an individual have to be prepared mentally," he said.
CWI and ECB suspend cricket activities
Cricket West Indies (CWI) delayed the domestic season by a month in the wake of the deadly disease. On Friday, the ECB suspended all professional cricket till May 28. This delayed the start to the new season. Meanwhile, WI were scheduled to play a three-Test series from June 4, following warm-up matches against England Lions and Worcestershire on May 22 and 28, respectively.
