Known for both his inswingers and outswingers and his ability to produce some magic from around the wicket, Dale Steyn is one of the best fast bowlers ever and undoubtedly the best South Africa has ever produced. South Africa's leading wicket-taker in Tests, Steyn, began his Test career in 2004 against England. In 2008, Steyn was named the ICC Test Player of the Year after he took 86 wickets at an average of 18.10 that year from just 14 Tests. From 2008-14 and then in 2016, Steyn was the highest-ranking bowler in Tests. He was at the top spot in the ICC Test rankings for a record 263 weeks during 2008-14. With the high-flying South African Test team, he won the Test championship in 2012 in England, and also became only the fourth South African to take 300 wickets in Tests that year. Steyn has one of the best strike rates among all the bowlers who have 200 or more wickets in Tests. When he retired in 2019, he had 439 Test wickets to his name.
