    After a hard-fought T20I series, India and Australia face off against each other in a five-match ODI series, starting March 2. Australia clean swept India 2-0 in the recently concluded T20Is. However, India enter the series as favorites. Notably, India won the ODI series 2-1 in Australia. Here we give you a statistical preview of the upcoming ODI series.

    An intense battle on the cards

    Taking into consideration the head-to-head record of these two teams in India, Australia hold a slender advantage over the hosts. Of the 56 matches held in India between the sides, India have won 25, while Australia have 26 wins in their bag, with five matches ending in no contest. Overall, in 131 matches, Australia have 74 wins, while India have managed 47 victories.

    The bigger, the better

    Australia's highest ODI total against India is 359 (Jaipur 2013), while India scored 383 against Aussies in Bengaluru (2013). Australia's largest victory margin against Men In Blue, in India is 93 runs, while India's best result came in 2001 when they won by 118 runs.

    MS Dhoni, Aaron Finch dominate with bat

    In the current squad, former skipper MS Dhoni is the highest run-scorer against Australia in India, with 841 runs to his name. On the other hand, for Australia, Aaron Finch has the most runs (440). Rohit Sharma holds the highest ODI score against Australia, in India, of 209, while for Aussies, Finch has this record under his belt, with a score of 124.

    Rohit Sharma, Marcus Stoinis most consistent with bat

    Among active players, in overall head-to-head battles, Rohit Sharma dominates with a batting average of 65.85, while for Australia, Marcus Stoinis averages the best with 59.75. In terms of centuries, Rohit leads the chart with seven, while for Australia, it's Finch and Shaun Marsh with two. As for 50+ scores, Dhoni and Rohit dominate for India with 12, while Finch tops it with eight.

    Nathan Coulter-Nile, Mohammed Shami hold the edge with ball

    If we talk about the current squad, Australia's Nathan Coulter-Nile has the most ODI wickets against India with 10 scalps, with Ravindra Jadeja holds the record for India with 20 scalps. As for the best bowling figures in a match, Australian newcomer Jhye Richardson holds the record with four for 26, while India's Yuzvendra Chahal has six for 42.

    Rohit, Kohli, Jadeja eye record books

    Rohit is just 192 runs away from reaching the landmark of 8,000 ODI runs. Also, Rohit is just a six away from becoming India's leading six-hitter in ODIs. Kohli needs 236 runs to become India's third-highest ODI run scorer, going past Rahul Dravid. Meanwhile, Jadeja is just 10 runs away from attaining the double of 2,000 runs, along with 100 wickets in ODIs.
