Jhye Richardson: News

In an Australian pace lineup that boasts some of the tallest and muscular pace bowlers around, a 5ft 10in and 70kg fast bowler is an anomaly. Jhye Richardson's coaches felt the same way when he decided to become a pace bowler but the way his career shaped since making his List A debut for Western Australia in 2015 proves that he made the right choice. Richardson began turning the heads of the Australian public and selectors along his way with his performance in the BBL. He made his debut for Perth Scorchers in the 2015-16 BBL. It was in the 2016-17 season that he made an impact in the league after taking three wickets for Perth Scorchers in the final. With a fast arm action that makes it easy for him to swing the bowl at speeds over 140km/h, Richardson made his international debut in a T20I in 2017 against Sri Lanka. His ODI debut came a year later against England. In a 2019 ODI series against India, he dismissed Virat Kohli three times. Due to an injury to Josh Hazelwood, Richardson made his Test debut in 2019 against Sri Lanka.
