The win puts Colombia at the top of Group K with three points, ahead of Portugal and DR Congo, who drew earlier in the day. Colombia will next face DR Congo on June 23, while Uzbekistan will face Portugal in Houston on the same day.

Diaz, who joined Bayern Munich from Liverpool last summer, scored his first-ever goal in a World Cup tournament. He had an impressive first season at Bayern, scoring 15 goals and assisting 14 others.
