Harendra named men's hockey coach; Marijne returns to women's camp

In a surprise move, women's hockey coach Harendra Singh was today named the chief coach of Indian men's team while men's in-charge Sjoerd Marijne was sent back to the women's camp, following the poor show by Manpreet Singh and Co. in Commonwealth Games. Harendra, who coached men's team from 2009 to 2011, was in-charge of the women's team since November 2017. Here's more.

Right guidance
Women's hockey team finished fourth in CWG under Singh's guidance

Under Harendra's guidance, the Indian women's team finished an impressive fourth at Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. He led Indian junior men's hockey team to World Cup title in 2016. His most important contribution was leading the women's team to ninth women's Asia Cup title in Japan last year. However, men's team under the tutelage of Marijne ended a disappointing fifth in Gold Coast.
