What's the story

Veteran Indian opener Rohit Sharma has gone past 14,000 runs in the List A format. The 39-year-old reached the milestone with his 10th run in the 2nd ODI against Afghanistan in Lucknow. Over 11,600 of Rohit's runs have come in ODI cricket. He is one of the greatest openers in the format's history. Here we look at his stellar stats and milestones.

Numbers

An average of 46-plus

Playing his 357th match in the List A format, Rohit has raced past 14,000 runs as he averages 46-plus, as per ESPNcricinfo. The tally includes 37 tons and 74 fifties. Rohit's List A debut was in February 2006, nearly 16 months before his maiden ODI appearance. Meanwhile, the batter's purple patch in ODIs started only when he was promoted as an opener in 2013.

Most sixes in ODIs

Rohit also happens to be the batter with the most ODI sixes (357-plus). Last year, he went past Pakistan's Shahid Afridi, who finished his career with 351 maximums. Besides Rohit and Afridi, West Indies' Chris Gayle (331) is the only other batter in the 300 sixes club. Among active players, England's Jos Buttler is closest to Rohit with 184 sixes.
