Despite playing no international fixture during this ranking period, Indian football team has gained a few spots. India broke into the top 100 three times in 2017. The team reached 96th spot in July 2017, which is its second highest ranking. The Blue Tigers achieved their best rank (94) in February 1996. India, however, ended 2017 at the 105th spot.

German football team has retained the top spot and is followed by Brazil, Portugal, Argentina and Belgium. Iran is the top-ranked Asian nation, placed at 33rd spot followed by Australia at 37th and Japan at 55th. Indian team is at 13th spot among the Asian nations above the likes of Qatar, Oman, Jordan, Bahrain and North Korea.
