    What's the story

The Indian national football team is back in the top 100 of the FIFA world rankings and is now placed at 99th spot.

India will share the spot with Libya as both the nations have the same 339 points to their name.

The Blue Tigers have jumped 3 places to reach the 99th rank.

    Stroke of luck

Indian team gains despite playing no international game

Despite playing no international fixture during this ranking period, Indian football team has gained a few spots.

India broke into the top 100 three times in 2017.

The team reached 96th spot in July 2017, which is its second highest ranking. The Blue Tigers achieved their best rank (94) in February 1996.

India, however, ended 2017 at the 105th spot.

    World champions

German football team retains its numero uno status

German football team has retained the top spot and is followed by Brazil, Portugal, Argentina and Belgium.

Iran is the top-ranked Asian nation, placed at 33rd spot followed by Australia at 37th and Japan at 55th.

Indian team is at 13th spot among the Asian nations above the likes of Qatar, Oman, Jordan, Bahrain and North Korea.

    Data

India will be seen in action on March 27

The Blue Tigers will be seen in action in the AFC Asian Cup qualifier match against Kyrgyz Republic in Bishkek on March 27. Indian team has already qualified for the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.
