Former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma has broken a major record in the Indian Premier League (IPL). During MI's second match of IPL 2026 against Delhi Capitals at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday, the veteran batsman hit his 51st six against DC. With this, he became the Indian batter with the most IPL sixes against a single team, as per ESPNcricinfo. He surpassed MS Dhoni's record of 50 sixes against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

Rohit, who opened the innings for MI, scored 35 runs off 26 balls, hitting five fours and a six. His six against Vipraj Nigam in the seventh over of the match helped him break Dhoni's long-standing record. The world record for most sixes against one team in IPL is held by Chris Gayle - 61 sixes against Punjab Kings and 54 sixes against Kolkata Knight Riders. No other batter owns a half-century of IPL sixes against a team.
