Kane Richardson: News

Considered a white-ball specialist, Kane Richardson is a trusted fringe player in the Australian cricket setup. Born in a rural town in South Australia, Richardson began his domestic career in 2009. He made his List A debut in the 2008-09 Ford Ranger Cup. He was part of the Australian team for the 2010 U-19 World Cup. Although he only played three matches, he contributed significantly with the bat in the final. Richardson slowly made a name for himself in limited-overs cricket. He later joined the Adelaide Strikers and made his BBL debut in the 2010-11 season. His international debut came in an ODI in 2013 against Sri Lanka due to the absence of Mitchell Starc. In T20I, he made his debut in 2014 against Pakistan. A right-arm medium pacer who relied on his variations, Richardson later added the ability to swing the ball to the repertoire. Add to that, the fact that he is more than capable of holding the willow helped his case when he was named in the Australian team for the 2019 World Cup. Cricket Australia awarded him a central contract in 2020.
