Virat Kohli named in Delhi's squad for first-two VHT matches
What's the story
Rishabh Pant has been appointed as the captain of Delhi's squad for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy, starting December 24. Virat Kohli will also be a part of the team for its first two matches. The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) confirmed their participation along with seamers Ishant Sharma and Navdeep Saini, who have also confirmed their availability.

Delhi's squad for the tournament
Ayush Badoni has been appointed as the vice-captain of Delhi's squad, with Tejasvi Dahiya serving as the second wicketkeeper after Pant. Anuj Rawat has been named as a standby wicketkeeper in case Pant is unavailable. The rest of the batting line-up includes Yash Dhull, Priyansh Arya, Arpit Rana, Nitish Rana, Sarthak Ranjan, Divij Mehra and Ayush Doseja.

Delhi's bowling line-up for the tournament
The bowling line-up for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy includes Simarjeet Singh and Prince Yadav as pace options, with Hrithik Shokeen, Harsh Tyagi and Vaibhav Kandpal providing spin options. All-rounder Rohan Rana has also been included in the 16-member squad. The team will play seven games from December 24 to January 8 in Group D of the tournament.

Notably, Kohli last played in the Vijay Hazare Trophy during the 2009/10 season. He has played 14 matches in this tournament, scoring 819 runs at an average of 68.25. Notably, the 37-year-old has retired from Tests and T20Is.

Delhi's 1st two matches in Bengaluru
Delhi's first two matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy are against Andhra and Gujarat. However, it remains unclear if Pant and Kohli will be available for all games as India also plays three ODIs starting January 11. Harshit Rana will join the squad when he becomes available after being part of India's T20I squad for a series against South Africa ending Friday.
