  • The Indian challenge at the Korea Open World Tour Super 500 came to an end after Parupalli Kashyap lost his men's singles semi-final match.

    The veteran shuttler lost in straight-games to world No.1 and two-time world champion Kento Momota on Saturday.

    Kashyap was beaten convincingly by Momota in a match that lasted for 40 minutes.

  • This was the third career meeting between Kashyap and Momota and the former faced defeat once again.

    Title favorite Momota sealed the match 21-13, 21-15.

    Momota has been on a different level in 2019.

    Besides sealing the BWF World Championships, he has won the China Open, Japan Open, Singapore Open, All England Open and the German Open.

    He will be eyeing another title.

  • Momota showed his intentions early in the first half and kept forcing Kashyap to make unforced errors as he kept giving away some easy points.

    Momota widened the lead to 14-8 and then to 17-10 to keep things under control.

    Kashyap lost the first game 13-21.

    The Indian fought back in the second game after being 3-9 down to 12-12.

    However, Momota stood tall.

  • World number two Chou Tien Chen battled past Wang Tzu Wei 12-21, 21-13, 21-11 to reach the final.

    One expects to see a high-octane battle in the finale between Chen and Momota.

    Meanwhile, in the women's section, Ratchanok Intanon stunned Tai Tzu Ying 21-19, 21-11 in straight games.

    She will face He Bing Jiao in the finale.

    Jiao overcame Michelle Li 21-9, 21-15.
