Most West Indies cricketers of the 21st century are popular for their hitting prowess, but they missed someone who can instill a sense of calm in the dressing room until Kraigg Brathwaite came into the fore. Hailing from Barbados, Brathwaite compares himself to Shivnarine Chanderpaul. It is not hard to find comparisons between them as both are batsmen who strive on their textbook technique. Brathwaite made his first-class debut in 2009. He was only 16 at the time. A precocious talent who made runs for fun, Brathwaite's Test debut in 2011 came before he led the West Indies U-19 team in the 2012 U-19 World Cup. He made his international debut in a Test against Pakistan in 2011. In his second-ever tour, he scored two fifties against India and became only the second West Indian to score two Test fifties before turning 19. He made his ODI debut in 2016 against Pakistan. Brathwaite was at the center in West Indies' famous Test victories since his debut. After leading West Indies to a series victory against Bangladesh in the absence of Jason Holder, he was named captain of the Test team in 2021.
