What's the story

Kolkata Knight Riders claimed their third Indian Premier League title after beating Sunrisers Hyderabad in a one-sided final in Chennai. KKR successfully chased down 114 after bowling out SRH, who recorded the lowest-ever score in an IPL final. Notably, no other side have recorded a sub-120 total in an IPL final. Here we decode the lowest totals in the tournament's finals.

SRH

113: SRH vs KKR, Chennai, 2024

As mentioned, SRH's 113/10 is now the lowest-ever total in the IPL finals. KKR easily chased it down in the 11th over. Notably, SRH also registered their joint second-lowest totals in IPL history. They also scored 115 against Mumbai Indians in Hyderabad in 2015. Their lowest IPL score (96) came in in 2019 against the same opposition.

CSK

125/9: CSK vs MI, Kolkata, 2013

The previous-lowest total in this regard was 125/9 by Chennai Super Kings against MI in the 2013 final at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The Yellow Army failed to chase a modest 149 as Lasith Malinga and Mitchell Johnson breathed fire. Meanwhile, skipper MS Dhoni was CSK's lone warrior, returning unbeaten on 63(45). Kieron Pollard slammed a match-winning 60*(32) for MI.

RPS

128/6: RPS vs MI, Hyderabad, 2017

MI won their third IPL title after claiming a one-run win against Rising Pune Supergiants in a dramatic final in Hyderabad. Chasing 130, the Supergiants managed 128/6, the third-lowest score in an IPL final. Notably, RPS were set at 98/2 to comfortably complete the run-chase. However, Johnson and Jasprit Bumrah took wickets in tandem to stop the Supergiants.

RR

130/9: RR vs GT, Ahmedabad, 2022

Playing only their second final in IPL history, Rajasthan Royals compiled 130/9 against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. GT skipper Hardik Pandya stood out by taking three wickets. He later smashed a 30-ball 34 as the Titans chased it down in 18.1 overs. They claimed their maiden IPL title after winning by seven wickets.
