Records tumble as Manchester City crowned Premier League Champions

Manchester City are the new Premier League Champions. The Sky Blues won their 5th title after second-placed Manchester United suffered a shocking 1-0 defeat at home at the hands of West Brom. ManU's loss ensured that their rivals were crowned as champions. City have won the league with 5 games left to play and are 16 points ahead of Manchester United.

Guardiola wins his first Premier League title

City have scored 93 goals and have lost just two games this season. This is Manchester City's third Premier League title in 7 seasons and Pep Guardiola's first league title since he took over the Citizens two years ago. Guardiola is now the first Spanish manager to win the English top-flight title. This is Guardiola's 24th trophy as a head coach.

Guardiola joins the list of elite managers

Guardiola has now won the top-flight league title in seven of his nine seasons. Guardiola has failed to win the title only in 2011-12 at Barcelona and last season with City. The Spaniard is now just the third manager after Ancelotti (3) and Mourinho (2) to win the top-flight title in England and at least two of the other big five European leagues.

Third title of the Premier League era

City have now equalled Arsenal's tally of three titles in the Premier League era- only Manchester United (13) and Chelsea (5) have won more.

City set the record for consecutive wins

Guardiola's City have been rampant in the 2017-2018 season. The Citizens set the Premier League record of 18 consecutive wins this season and have beaten every side in the Premier League at least once this season. They even set the record for the highest possession of 82.13% against Everton and recorded the most passes completing over 900 against Chelsea.

City have already won the League Cup this season

City claimed their first trophy of the season by winning the League Cup after beating Arsenal at Wembley in the final. However, their quadruple and treble dreams were quashed after they were ousted from the FA Cup in 5th round by minnows Wigan Athletic in February. And last week, Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool knocked them out of the Champions League.

    Oil money well spent

Since Sheikh Mansour took over Manchester City in 2008, the blue half of Manchester have won 3 Premier League titles, an FA Cup, two League Cups and an FA Community Shield.

Manchester City are the most rampant side in the EPL

Manchester City held an impressive record this season by scoring goals at will. They have netted 93 goals this season, 15 more than Liverpool which have scored 78. City have also conceded the least goals letting just 25 goals in. They have won 14 away games and 14 home games so far.

Records that can be broken by City this season

City need 13 points from their last 5 games to reach 100 point mark in the Premier League. The record of most points in a season (95) is held by Chelsea (2004-05). City can break the record for most wins in a single season. Currently, the maximum wins have been recorded by Chelsea (30) in last season and Tottenham Hotspur (31) in 1960-61 .

City just a few goals away from Premier League history

City have 93 goals this season and can break Chelsea's record of 103 goals set in the 2009-10 season under Carlo Ancelotti. They need 7 goals to become the fourth side to score 100 goals in a Premier League season. Guardiola is just 12 points away from his previous best points tally 99 points with Barcelona in 2009-10.
