IPL: CSK defeat MI, who is the winner and sinner?
Chennai Super Kings beat Mumbai Indians by 1 wicket in the 2018 IPL opening encounter. The defending champions were blown away by Dwayne Bravo's heroics. Batting first, MI had set a target of 166. CSK kept losing wickets from the start, but Bravo's knock of 68 made the difference in the end. Here we analyze the winner and the sinner of the match.
CSK's Bravo is the winner of the game
Dwayne Bravo's brilliant innings summed it up for CSK. His 30-ball 68 was the turning point of the game. From the moment he came on, Bravo looked sharp. Even though, wickets fell around him but he kept his composure. He hit 7 sixes and 3 fours to seal the tie for CSK. He also bowled well with figures of 0/25 in his four-over-spell.
CSK stalwart Raina is the sinner of the game
One could have argued that Mark Wood is an eligible contender for this title. But as per us, it is Suresh Raina. CSK were at 42/1 and Raina had to face the last ball of the power-play. Rather than choosing to stay longer, the southpaw decided to smack Hardik and paid the price. Raina might be Mr IPL but today he is the sinner.
Key stats
Mumbai Indians have now lost the opening encounter 6 times in a row (2013-2018). But during this period, they have gone on to win the IPL title thrice. Interestingly, Bravo became the first batsman to hit 3 sixes in an over off Bumrah in T20s.
