What's the story

Mitchell Starc, Australia's ace pacer, wreaked havoc on Bangladesh's batting line-up in the second Test match in Mackay. He took a five-wicket haul in just 22 balls, leaving the visitors reeling. Starc went on to dismiss six batters as the Tigers posted their fourth-lowest ever all-out total in Tests (64/10). En route to his spell, Starc also became the highest wicket-taker in World Test Championship history. Here are further details.

Match details

Starc sends Bangladesh top-order packing

Starc started his demolition job with the first ball of the match, sending Shadman Islam back for a duck.

Tanzid Hasan, who had scored a century in Bangladesh's historic win over Australia in Darwin, was next to go without scoring.

He further dismissed Najmul Hossain Shanto, Litton Das and Mominul Haque in quick succession, leaving Bangladesh at 12/5.

Starc returned to dismiss last man Shoriful Islam, as Bangladesh posted a paltry 64/10.

Record feat

Another record for Starc

Starc's 10 overs resulted in 12 runs, six wickets, and as many maidens.

His spell is now among the fastest five-wicket hauls in Test history. He took just 22 balls to take his first five wickets.

This isn't the first time Starc has made such a record; he already holds the record for the fastest five-wicket haul in Tests, having taken just 15 balls against West Indies in 2025.
