    MS Dhoni to open cricket academy in Dubai

    What's the story

    Former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni, recently announced that, he would be opening his first cricket academy in Dubai.

    He is following the likes of Sourav Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh and Virender Sehwag, who already have their own academies.

    The 36-year old has teamed up with Pacific Sports Club in Dubai to set up 'MS Dhoni Cricket Academy (MSDCA)' in the United Arab Emirates.

    Dhoni to fly to Dubai next month

    MS Dhoni, who is scheduled to play the ODI and T20 series against Sri Lanka, will travel to Dubai next month, after the series ends, to get the academy up and running.

    Dhoni's investment in other sports

    An avid footballer, Dhoni co-owns the Indian Super League franchise Chennaiyin FC, along with Bollywood actor and producer Abhishek Bachchan and Vita Dani.

    He also owns Ranchi based franchise of the Hockey India League, Ranchi Rays, in partnership with Sahara India Parivar.

    Dhoni also bought a FIM Supersport World Championship team- Mahi Racing Team with actor Nagarjuna Akkineni.

    Apart from co-owning these teams, MS Dhoni launched a fitness centre called 'SportsFit' in 2012. He plans to open 200 gyms across the country and would deploy Rs. 2,000 crore over 5 years.

    Future

    Will Dhoni invest in IPL?

    MS Dhoni, who was the captain of Indian Premier League team Chennai Super Kings for eight years, might return to the side for next year's edition of the tournament.

    However, if reports are to be believed, Dhoni might also invest in the richest cricket league of the world after his retirement. Incidentally, India Cements owns the IPL's Chennai based team.
