When a 14-year old lad from Thane scored 546 runs off 330 balls for Rizvi Springfield High School against St. Francis, the world stood still to marvel at the brilliance of the player. They saw the future of Indian cricket in the willow of that young batsman. Under the watchful eyes of cricket aficionados and glowing floodlights, the said batsman grew and with the sheer weight of runs behind him, he pushed everyone aside to become a part of the men in blue. Prithvi Shaw made his first-class debut for Mumbai against Tamil Nadu in the 2016-2017 Ranji Trophy. He showed his class by scoring a second-innings century. He carried on his form by scoring a century on his Duleep Trophy debut as well, thus being the youngest to do so. Shaw grew in stature as he was made the captain of the India U-19 team that won the World Cup in 2018. His exploits in the U-19 World Cup were followed by an IPL contract and call-up to India A team. In 2018, he arrived on the international stage with a century on his Test debut against the West Indies.
