What's the story

The Sri Lankan cricket team is set to play a T20I match in Lahore against Pakistan next month. The tour will mostly be played in the UAE, with the two teams taking each other on in a two-match Test series, a five-match ODI series and a three-match T20I series. The last T20I, though, will be played at Lahore, subject to security clearance.

First tour

SLC President keen on first Pakistan tour since terrorist attack

SLC President Thilanga Sumathipala revealed that he was "keen" on a tour to Pakistan for the first time since the Lankan bus was attacked by gunmen in Lahore in 2009. Since then, no other teams, barring Afghanistan and Zimbabwe, has toured the country. A World XI tour has been scheduled later this month, in a bid to bring back international cricket to the country.

What the SLC president said

The SLC President said "We have had our security experts visit and make an assessment, and things look positive with things improving all over the country. We have three T20 games coming up against Pakistan in September and we would like to play at least one of those games in Lahore," However, it is not clear what the players' reaction will be.
