    What's the story

With the crucial Champions League fixtures this midweek, Europe's elite had a lot to ponder over.

While Bayern Munich and PSG were rampant, Barcelona and Real Madrid had to dig deep to secure victories.

Arsenal and Chelsea might have just saved their season with their crucial victories.

Here is a complete round-up of all the football action from this weekend.

    Routine victory

Barcelona secure win despite missing daddy Leo

Despite the absence of 'Little Magician' Lionel Messi, Barcelona secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over 10-man Malaga. The goals from Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho sealed the deal for the Catalan giants.

Lionel Messi, who recently became a father, opted to sit this game out, but Luis Suarez ensured he was not missed and went on to set a record of his own.

    Thrashing

    Rampant Bayern sweep aside Hamburg

Bayern Munich were at their rampant best as they put 6 goals past Hamburg in the Bundesliga.

Polish striker Robert Lewandowski scored a hat-trick to reach the 100 goal landmark in the Bundesliga.

Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery were the others on the score-sheet.

Bayern are now 20 points ahead of second-placed Schalke.

    Red-hot form

Ronaldo's brace secures Real Madrid's victory

Real Madrid cruised to a routine victory over Eibar after Cristiano Ronaldo's 32nd and 33rd goal of the season secured a 2-1 victory for the Los Blancos.

Ronaldo opened the scoring for the visitors but it didn't take long for Ivan Ramis to equalise for Eibar.

A defensive error allowed Ronaldo to score the winner in the 84th minute.

    Hanging by a thread

Arsenal and Chelsea keep their campaigns alive

Arsenal might have saved their disappointing season with a 3-0 win over Watford.

Goals from Mustafi, Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan secured the win for the hosts.

The victory ends their string of three successive Premier League losses.

Chelsea, on the other hand, beat London rivals Crystal Palace 2-1 after Willian along with Martin Kelly's own goal secured the victory.

    Bouncing back

PSG get back to winning ways with 5-0 triumph

PSG put their Champions League disappointment behind them with a 5-0 thrashing of Metz in the Ligue 1.

The French giants took the lead in the fifth minute through Thomas Meunier before Christopher Nkunku scored a brace.

Mbappe and Thiago Silva added two more goals to complete the rout.

PSG lead second-placed Monaco by 14 points in the Ligue 1.
