The announcement comes as part of a major revamp in KKR's coaching staff, which is now led by Abhishek Nayar. Shane Watson was also recently appointed as an assistant coach for the next season.

Southee, who retired from international cricket earlier in 2025, is currently serving as a bowling consultant for England's Test team. The 36-year-old had played for KKR in IPL seasons 2021-2023. He has taken over 700 wickets across formats in international cricket. Across 54 IPL matches, he claimed 47 wickets at 37.06. He was also part of New Zealand's journey to the finals of the ODI World Cup in 2019 and their World Test Championship win in 2021.
