Football Transfers: Ronaldo could move to Italy this summer
Cristiano Ronaldo could be plying his trade in the Serie A next summer and Chelsea might announce the new manager before July 9. Bayern Munich are interested in signing Manchester United's young star while Real Madrid's mid-field ace has snubbed the Red Devils. Here are the top transfer rumours and news from today's European papers.
Cristiano Ronaldo could play for Juventus, if reports in Italy are to be believed. Juventus have made an ambitious move for the superstar, after CR7 snubbed a deal worth €31.5 mn, offered by the management at Santiago Bernabeu. He is likely to leave the Spanish capital this summer. Apart from Juventus, United and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.
Lazio are playing hardball over the transfer of their star mid-fielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as they have demanded a hefty price for their prized asset. Juventus want to acquire the player but Lazio have asked for €100 million plus Rodrigo Bentancur as a part of an exchange deal. Juventus, however, are still hopeful that they can strike this deal.
As per the report in The Guardian, Maurizio Sarri will be announced as Chelsea's new manager, before the players return for pre-season training. The pre-season begins on July 9. However, Conte has still prepared his pre-season plans for the Blues, in case they decide to stick with him. In all likelihood, Chelsea would clear their managerial situation before the conclusion of the World Cup.
German champions Bayern Munich are the latest side to join the race to sign Manchester United's Anthony Martial. With Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben in the twilight of their careers, Martial is seen as a worthy successor. Martial is a prized asset given his ability to play anywhere across the front line. However, PSG, Spurs and Juventus are also interested in the 22-year-old.
Real Madrid's mid-field ace Toni Kroos has turned down an offer from Manchester United. It was first reported in Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo. Jose Mourinho is a big fan of the 28-year-old and was keen to bring him to Old Trafford. However, Toni's contract at the Santiago Bernabeu would end in 2022 and he wants to see it through.
