Indian batter Virat Kohli scripted history with an incredible knock against Australia in Dubai. Kohli's 84 helped India in their run-chase of 265 in 2025 ICC Champions Trophy semi-final. The 36-year-old shared substantial stands with Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, and KL Rahul, after India lost their openers. Kohli could have become the third Indian with multiple tons in the Champions Trophy.

As per ESPNcricinfo, Kohli now has the most fifty-plus scores in ICC ODI tournaments. He broke a tie with Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, who owns 23 such scores. No other batter has more than 18 fifty-plus scores in these tournaments combined.

India's highest run-scorer in Champions Trophy

During his scintillating knock, Kohli also went past Dhawan to become India's highest run-scorer in Champions Trophy history. The left-hander compiled 701 runs from 10 matches at 77.88 in this tournament. No Indian other than Kohli and Dhawan have 700-plus runs in the Champions Trophy. Kohli, who also surpassed Mahela Jayawardene (742), is only behind Chris Gayle in terms of Champions Trophy runs (791).

In his match-winning knock, Kohli also completed 8,000 runs while chasing in the format. He now has 8,063 runs from 159 ODI innings at 64.50 in this regard. As per ESPNcricinfo, Kohli became only the second batter with this feat after Tendulkar (8,720). Rohit occupies the third spot on this list, having slammed 6,115 runs while chasing targets.

ICC knockouts

1,000 runs in ICC knockouts

Kohli also became the first batter with more than 1,000 runs in ICC knockout matches. He crossed this figure with an average of over 53. Kohli is followed by Rohit in this list, who has scored 808 runs at an average of 42.52. Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting scored 731 runs in ICC knockout matches at an average of 45.68.
