ICC WT20I Rankings: Hayley Matthews regains top spot among all-rounders
What's the story
West Indies captain Hayley Matthews has reclaimed her position at the top of the ICC Women's T20I All-Rounder Rankings. The change comes after a stellar performance in WI's opening match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, where they beat New Zealand by seven wickets. Matthews scored an impressive 48 runs and took the wicket of Sophie Devine.
Rankings shift
Deepti Sharma makes strides in WT20I all-rounders' list
The win against New Zealand has pushed Matthews ahead of her counterpart, New Zealand skipper Melie Kerr, who went wicketless and scored just five runs in the same match. This has given the West Indies all-rounder a clear edge over her rival. Meanwhile, India's Deepti Sharma has also made strides in the WT20I all-rounders' list after her phenomenal five-wicket haul against Pakistan at Edgbaston. She became the second-ever woman with 350 international wickets.
Player resurgence
Kathryn Bryce returns to top 10; Linsey Smith leads bowlers
Scotland captain Kathryn Bryce has also made a comeback in the top 10 of WT20I all-rounders. She moved up seven places after her Player of the Match performance against Ireland in Manchester. The rankings for WT20I bowlers are particularly interesting, with just 20 rating points separating the top eight players. England spinner Linsey Smith (733) continues to lead this category, closely followed by India spinner Shree Charani, who moved up five spots to second place with a new career-high rating (728).
Player advancements
Deepti Sharma jumps to fifth in WT20I bowlers' rankings
Indian bowler Deepti Sharma also made a jump in the WT20I bowlers' rankings, moving up five places to fifth. Outside the top 10, New Zealand pacer Jess Kerr (16th), Scotland's Katherine Fraser (28th), and Bryce (equal 42nd) have all made significant moves. In the WT20I batter rankings, South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt has moved up one place to second after scoring 44 runs against Australia in Manchester. Australia's Georgia Voll continues to top this category.
