WWE: Here are the records broken by superstars in 2019

WWE produces the best form of sports entertainment through professional wrestling, and most of the credit goes to the superstars, who perform their hearts out, in the ring. In the process, there are numerous records that are being scripted by the superstars, just like any other sport. On the same note, we take a look at the records broken by the superstars this year.

Pete Dunne becomes the longest-reigning champion in modern era

Holding on to a championship for a long time is more prestigious than winning the championship on multiple occasions. While Bruno Sammartino's reign of 2,803 days as the World Champion seems unbreakable, Pete Dunne has done something incredible in the modern era. He held the UK Championship for 528 days, as he went past Brock Lesnar, who was the Universal Champion for 503 days.

Brock Lesnar captures WWE Championship twice on SmackDown

Reigning WWE Champion Brock Lesnar has the tendency to win titles and script some top records. Recently, he managed to win one of the fastest WWE Championship matches, taming Kofi Kingston in just nine seconds, during SmackDown's premiere on Fox. However, the unique record that he scripted is that he also became the only superstar to win the championship twice on the blue brand.

Pat Patterson becomes the oldest champion

Pat Patterson shocked the entire WWE Universe when he won the newly introduced 24/7 Championship, as he pinned Drake Maverick during the Raw Reunion episode this year. In the process, he became the oldest champion in the WWE (78-year-old). Interestingly, he broke his own record which he had previously set by winning the Hardcore Championship, at the age of 59.

Most title changes in one night

The 24/7 Championship has a weird stipulation that the title has to defended at all times. Consequently, the superstar winning the championship has to immediately watch out for other superstars who are pursuing the title. While it has changed hands on countless occasions so far, the Raw Reunion episode saw a record, as the championship changed hands nine times on a single night.

R-Truth records a championship win on most occasions

R-Truth has been the center of attraction when it comes to the 24/7 Championship. Having won it on record 20 occasions so far, he has scripted the record of winning a particular championship on most occasions. With the year still to end, he could well eye the record of Edge, of holding the most championships in WWE, of 31, while Truth has held 25.
