What's the story

Dashing opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a brilliant century for India A on Day 1 of the ongoing third and final unofficial Test against New Zealand A. The match started at Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln on Saturday. In the second session of the red-ball fixture, Jaiswal reached his century off 127 balls. He hit a boundary off Dean Foxcroft's second ball of the 44th over to bring up his ton.

Match details

A solid knock from Jaiswal

Jaiswal faced a total of 138 balls in the first innings and scored 102 runs with 16 fours and two sixes.

He shared a massive 175-run partnership for the first wicket with Sai Sudharsan, who played the second fiddle in this stand.

This comes after Jaiswal faced criticism for his scores of 17 and five in the first unofficial Test and a duck in the first innings of the second unofficial Test.

The southpaw finally found his form, scoring a stunning 155* on the last day of the second unofficial Test.

Squad selection

Jaiswal's back-to-back tons

Jaiswal's back-to-back centuries must have boosted his morale ahead of the two-Test series against New Zealand at Basin Reserve, Wellington, from November 19.

Notably, the southpaw is yet to play a Test on NZ soil.

Star fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna are also part of India A's playing XI for the ongoing third unofficial Test.
