What's the story

The IS threatened Saudi Arabia of attacks in the near future. Taking responsibility for the violence in Tehran that left 17 dead, the IS warned of more attacks against Iran's Shias. In a video that looked to have been filmed before the strike on Tehran, 5 masked men threatened the Shias in Saudi Arabia that their turn "will come" after they're done with Iran.

Introduction

The problem of Wahhabism and Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia which says it's serious about tackling IS is often seen as problematic. IS stems from Wahhabism which gets its name from the strict form of Islam followed in Saudi Arabia. The US State Department concluded that over the past 40 years Saudi Arabia has funded more than £6 billion to spread the message of Wahhabism.

Information

If Saudi Arabia spearheads Wahhabism, why is IS attacking it?

ISIS maintains that the Saudi state has strayed away from the true position of Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab and that IS are true agents of the Salafi or Wahhabi which is the "ultimate religious authority in Islam".
