What's the story

Ivanka Trump, advisor to and daughter of the US president, will have an intense security cover during her upcoming maiden visit to India. It will consist of expert marksmen from the elite anti-naxal force Greyhound and anti-terror team Octopus, who will be armed with the Russian Dragunov sniper rifles. Bulletproof and mine-resistant limousines will also be flown in from the US.

Security

Hyderabad is going all out to ensure Ivanka's security

Ivanka will be in Hyderabad for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) during November 28-30. She will reportedly arrive in India on a commercial flight. Police will take over all venues she will be visiting by November 25, and the US Secret Service will deploy its own set of sniffer dogs. There will be at least six police vehicles accompanying her convoy.

Facilities

Lavish expenses on flowers, food and stay too

But security isn't all that's being splurged on: reports say flowers are being brought in from Bangkok, Indonesia and Bengaluru. Her meals would be made by chefs from various Taj hotels; each will prepare one dish. Food will be served on gold and silver plates. The Nizam suite in the former residence of the Nizam is being kept on standby for VVIPs.

Controversy

In the process, Hyderabad has courted controversy too

Hyderabad has gone all out to give Ivanka top facilities on her first India visit, including a five-tier security ring of top American and Indian personnel. However, there was controversy over reports that Hyderabad police had banned begging in the city during November 8-January 7, 2018, and shifted about 1,000 alms-seekers to jail-ashrams. Ivanka's aides referred questions on it to the state government.

Schedule

Ivanka Trump's itinerary during the GES

On November 28, Ivanka will address the GES inaugural session at Hyderabad International Convention Centre. She will follow it up with a dinner hosted by Modi at Taj Falaknuma. On November 29, she will speak on "Women First, Prosperity for All". She is also likely to attend an AR Rahman concert and do some sightseeing. Ivanka will be accompanied by husband Jared Kushner.
