This limited-run car is based on BMW M5 Touring
What's the story
Bovensiepen, the company founded by Alpina's family, has unveiled its latest model, the 05 GT. The high-performance estate is based on the BMW M5 Touring and comes with bespoke styling, chassis upgrades, and a power boost over the standard car. The new model is a worthy successor to the Alpina B5 and features an impressive output of 801hp and torque of up to 1,100Nm.
Design
The estate features a design by Frank Stephenson
The 05 GT sports a redesigned exterior by renowned automotive designer Frank Stephenson, who has worked on several iconic models such as the first modern-era BMW and MINI models like the X5 and Cooper, Ferrari F430, and McLaren P1. The new look tones down the visual aggression of the standard M5 Touring while reducing its flanks' heft. Key changes include new front/rear bumpers, extensively reworked side skirts, a trailing rear spoiler, and a stainless-steel front grille featuring Bovensiepen lettering.
Performance
It packs an upgraded plug-in hybrid powertrain
The 05 GT is powered by BMW's 4.4-liter, S68, twin-turbocharged V8 plug-in hybrid powertrain, which has been revised by Bovensiepen with a new intake system and Akrapovic exhaust. The total system output rises to an impressive 801hp and torque of up to 1,100Nm, compared to the standard M5 Touring's figures of 727hp and torque of up to 1,000Nm. The electric portion of the drivetrain remains unchanged but continues to produce up to an additional 198hp.
Interior
The cabin can be personalized to your taste
The 05 GT's cabin layout is largely retained from the M5 Touring but offers extensive scope for personalization. Buyers can choose from a wide range of leather, Alcantara, stitching, and trim finishes. Handcrafted Lavalina leather upholstery and custom headrest embossing are also available options. However, due to the bespoke nature of this work, production at Bovensiepen's Buchloe facility in Germany will be limited to around 100 cars per year.
