2028 Audi A6 Allroad arrives with better looks and tech
What's the story
Audi has unveiled the 2028 A6 Allroad, a high-riding wagon that borrows design elements from the RS6 Avant. The vehicle is 4.3-inch wider than the Euro-only A6 Avant and features a modern interior similar to that of the latest A6 sedan. An Audi spokesperson confirmed to Car and Driver that this new model will be available in the US sometime in 2027.
Design enhancements
The Allroad features wide fenders like RS6 Avant
The A6 Allroad features a sleek new exterior design with wide fenders reminiscent of the performance-oriented RS6 Avant. It also sits taller than its predecessor, thanks to an updated Allroad-specific adaptive air suspension. This system allows the A6 to ride 1.3-inch higher than before and offers an adjustable range of 2.2-inch for added versatility on different terrains.
Interior upgrades
It has an 11.9-inch digital gage cluster
The interior of the A6 Allroad is a replica of the sedan's, with a focus on technology. It comes with an 11.9-inch digital gage cluster and a 14.5-inch central infotainment screen. There is also an optional 10.9-inch display for the front passenger, adding to the high-tech feel of this new model from Audi.
Performance
Its European variant packs a plug-in hybrid setup
The European-market A6 Allroad comes with a plug-in hybrid setup using a turbocharged, 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine or an optional 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6. However, these powertrains are not expected to make their way to the US market. Instead, it is likely that the US-market Allroad will sport the same 362hp turbocharged, 3.0-liter V6 and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as found in the A6 sedan stateside.
Driving comfort
Audi has improved steering system of Allroad
Audi has improved the steering system of the new Allroad, making every component between the steering wheel and tires stiffer for a more direct feel. The company has also improved sound insulation and offered acoustic glazing on side glass to enhance driving comfort. These enhancements promise an improved driving experience with better control over the vehicle's movements.
Market introduction
Pricing and availability
While Audi has not confirmed the exact arrival time of the A6 Allroad, a company spokesperson said it will be available sometime in 2027. The European model is expected to start at the equivalent of $89,659 based on current exchange rates.
