What's the story

Capricorn Group, a German company that supplies components to Formula 1 and other racing clients, has unveiled its first supercar. The 01 Zagato is a mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive machine with a carbon-fiber exterior designed by the famous coachbuilder of the same name. Unlike most modern supercars that focus on tech and screens, this one aims to deliver an emotional driving experience.

Engine specs

The supercar can accelerate to 100km/h in under 3 seconds

The 01 Zagato is powered by a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine from Ford, mated to a five-speed dogleg manual transmission. This combination produces an impressive 888hp and 1,001Nm of torque, all sent to the rear wheels. The supercar can hit the 100km/h mark in under three seconds and reach a top speed of 360km/h.

Design elements

It features a proprietary ECU tune and special ABS software

The 01 Zagato comes with a number of bespoke components, including a dry pump lubrication system, a crankshaft, pistons, exhaust and more. It also features a proprietary ECU tune and special ABS software. Carbon ceramic brakes with six-piston calipers from Brembo hide behind the Capricorn-designed 21-inch wheels that can be had in lightweight alloy or carbon fiber.

Interior features

The cabin has switchgear made from solid titanium and aluminum

The 01 Zagato's cabin is dominated by exposed carbon fiber, with switchgear made from solid titanium and aluminum. The seats are upholstered in Connolly leather with Alcantara accents, and buyers will have the option to customize them. The car has three analog gages behind a leather-wrapped steering wheel with just two buttons - start-stop and drive mode selector.

Aerodynamics

It achieves downforce through 'internal airflow management'

The 01 Zagato doesn't have any major aerodynamic elements like wings. Instead, it achieves significant yet consistent downforce through "internal airflow management and the design of the underfloor." The supercar also comes with front and rear diffusers as well as a subtle rear airfoil. Its stunning exterior hides a carbon-fiber chassis, including monocoque, crash members, and front/rear subframes.

Production plans

Only 19 examples of the car will be made

Capricorn Group plans to start building the 01 Zagato in the first half of 2026. However, only 19 examples will be made and they won't be available in the United States. The new supercar comes with a price tag of €2.95 million (approximately $3.4 million).
