Hyundai Creta Sports Edition launched at Rs. 12.78 lakh

Taking on MG Motor's recently launched MG Hector, Hyundai has introduced an all-new Creta Sports Edition in the country. Starting at Rs. 12.78 lakh, the new model is offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. Notably, the Sports Edition is based on Creta's SX variant and is upto Rs. 60,000 costlier than the SX variant. Here's our roundup.

Let's take a look at the Hyundai Creta Sports Edition

The Hyundai Creta Sports Edition, offered in dual-tone color scheme, features a chrome finished grille, blacked-out ORVMs along with LED turn indicators, dual exhausts, and silver-colored roof rails as well as skid plates. For lighting, it houses projector headlamps along with LED DRLs, position lamps, and LED taillights. Furthermore, the subcompact SUV has a boot space of 400 liters.

    Inside the cabin

Inside, the five-seater Creta Sports Edition features a blacked-out cabin with fabric upholstery and a leather-wrapped multifunctional power-steering wheel. The crossover sports a 7-inch touchscreen LCD infotainment system with connectivity features like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Moreover, the cabin gets an electric panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, cruise control, and support for wireless charging.

    Power and performance

The Hyundai Creta Sports Edition is offered in 1.6-liter petrol and 1.6-liter diesel engine options. The former is capable of producing 121.3bhp of power at 6,400rpm and 151Nm of peak torque 4,850rpm, while the latter churns out 126.2bhp and 259.87Nm. For transmission duties, the engine gets a six-speed manual gearbox.

Hyundai Creta Sports Edition: On the road

The Hyundai Creta Sports Edition comes equipped with disc brakes on the front and drum brakes on the rear wheels along with ABS, EBD, and ESC (Electronic Stability Control) for better road handling. The subcompact SUV packs six airbags and comes with driver-assist features such as hill-start assist control, rear parking assist system, and a rearview camera.

    Finally, what about pricing?

In India, Hyundai Creta Sports Edition costs Rs. 12.78 lakh for the petrol-powered variant, while the diesel-based model is priced at Rs. 14.13 lakh. At this price point, the crossover goes up against rivals such as MG Hector, Jeep Compass, and Maruti Suzuki S Cross.
