Context

Why does this story matter?

Kia Carens was unveiled in December last year and it is the company's fourth model in India after the Seltos, Carnival, and Sonet. It has amassed over 7,738 bookings here and is likely to be quite popular with customers on our shores. The four-wheeler takes on rivals such as the Tata Safari, Hyundai ALCAZAR, MG Hector Plus, and Mahindra XUV700.

Exteriors

The SUV is available in 8 shades

The Kia Carens has a thin chrome bar, a chrome-surrounded radiator grille, split-LED headlamps, and LED fog lights. It is flanked by roof rails, blacked-out B-pillars, indicator-mounted ORVMs, and 16-inch alloy wheels. Wrap-around LED taillamps and a shark-fin antenna grace the rear end. The car is offered in eight shades, including Imperial Blue, Clear White, Intense Red, Sparkling Silver, and Gravity Gray.

Information

Three engine choices are offered

The Kia Carens gets three engine options: a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated petrol engine that makes 112hp/144Nm, a 1.4-liter turbo-petrol motor that generates 136hp/242Nm, and a 1.5-liter diesel mill that churns out 112hp/250Nm. Transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, or 7-speed DCT gearbox.

Interiors

The car gets ambient lighting and six airbags

Kia Carens has a 6/7-seater cabin, featuring second-row seats with a recline function, ambient lighting, air purifier, roof-mounted AC vents, a wireless charger, an electric sunroof, and a multifunctional steering wheel. It houses a digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment console with Apple CarPlay support. Six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), a tire pressure monitoring system, and ABS ensure the passengers' safety.
